Foster Parent Training

If you are interested in becoming a foster parent and you've read the preceding information about foster parent responsibilities, requirements and licensure, you are probably now curious about the material provided in the training.

A curriculum has been designed called "PACE" which is intended to give prospective foster parents the knowledge they need to enhance their fostering of children and to provide experienced foster parents with helpful updates.  This curriculum consists of twelve, 3-hour sessions which are offered at various times throughout the year.  Training is free for all foster parents and we attempt to provide as much flexibility as we can in offering the sessions at differing times of the day.  You may sign up for day or evening classes, whatever best fits your schedule.

If you'd like to get a PREVIEW of the training, click on the PACE Training link below.  Please note that this preview is not the entire PACE training which is conducted in a classroom setting.  If you have any questions about PACE training or would like to participate in PACE training, please contact Michelle Rainey.

Racine County also provides targeted, advanced training free of charge to our licensed foster parents.  The topics covered in this curriculum, which is separate from PACE,  are intended to help newly licensed and experienced foster parents understand and deal with issues such as eating disorders, adolescent depression, childhood obesity, communication, autism, etc.  Foster parents can access this training by clicking on the ADVANCED Training link below.  Licensed foster parents can earn one hour of inservice training for each session completed and turned in to the foster parent trainer.

If you have any questions about the ADVANCED Training, please contact Michelle Rainey.
